――うっとりするような優美さと繊細さを漂わす（ウィーン・プレス、2013年5月）
ウィーンを中心に活躍して来たメンバーが集まり、室内楽の中でも至上の形式である弦楽四重奏団を結成。特に初期のウィーン楽派、ロマン派の楽曲を得意とする。彼らの音楽には、それぞれのソリストや室内楽奏者としての経験だけでなく、ウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、ウィーン国立歌劇場管弦楽団でのオーケストラ奏者としての活動の中で薫陶を受けた伝統の品位と色彩豊かな香りが表現されている。音を聴きあい、対話するように演奏する豊かな響きの中には古典音楽の真髄が感じられる。
ヨーロッパやアジアの音楽祭やコンサートホールで演奏を行い、気鋭の弦楽四重奏団としての地位を確立した。ウィーン国立歌劇場主催のウィーン・フィル室内楽シリーズへの出演のほか、中国ツアーも行い、中国国家大劇院（北京）や上海東方芸術センターでも高い評価を得た。
2018年にはカメラータ・トウキョウよりベートーヴェンの「ラズモフスキー」全3曲のCDリリースで待望のアルバム・デビューを果たすとともに、日本全国を回るツアーを行う。
●ヴィルフリート・和樹・ヘーデンボルク（ヴァイオリン）
6歳よりヴァイオリンを始める。1989年、モーツァルテウム国立音楽大学でルッジェーロ・リッチに師事し、1998年に最優秀の成績で修了（芸術学修士）。同年ウィーン市立音楽大学でウェルナー・ヒンクに師事し、2001年に首席で卒業。「オーストリア青少年音楽コンクール」1位および「ウィーン・フィルハーモニカー特別賞」（1993年、オーストリア）、「パブロ・デ・サラサーテ国際コンクール」（同年、スペイン）４位受賞（最年少）。「リッチ国際コンクール」（1995年、ドイツ）１位受賞、「タデウス・ヴロインスキー・ソロ・ヴァイオリン国際コンクール」（1997年、ポーランド）１位受賞等。またヴァイオリンの弦の開発も手がけており「トマスチック・インフェルド」と契約を結び、1999年に「インフェルド・ヴァイオリン」の名称で商品化された。2001年にウィーン国立歌劇場管弦楽団に入団。2004年よりウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団の正団員として活動する一方で、室内楽の演奏活動にも積極的に参加し、ソリストとしても活躍している。2012年には、「ニコライ弦楽四重奏団」、さらに兄弟3人によるピアノ三重奏団「ヘーデンボルク・トリオ」を結成した。1998年にモーツァルテウム国立音楽大学（クリスタ・リヒター・シュタイナー勲章）およびオーストリア連邦省より叙勲された。使用楽器はM. SchwalbとD. Bagué。弓はT. M. Gerbeth。1977年生まれ。
●ベンジャミン・モリソン（ヴァイオリン）
ニュージーランド出身。7歳よりS. ラーセンに師事し、2004年にニュージーランド国際コンチェルト・コンクール優勝。2006年よりニュージーランド交響楽団のコンサートマスターであるV. M. レッペネンの元で高等教育を受け、同年より2009年まで、ニュージーランド国際青少年オーケストラのコンサートマスターを務める。2007年にオーストリアへ移り、グラーツ音楽大学のY. クレスに師事。ソリスト、室内楽奏者としての経験を積み、「マルタ・デベリ」や「グラドゥス・アド・パルナッスム」などオーストリア国内の数々のコンクールで入賞する。2010年にはその功績を認められ、グラーツ市より表彰される。モリソン・トリオを始め数多くのアンサンブルに参加し、ミハイル・ヒル国際ヴァイオリンコンクール（2011年）、国際ブラームス・コンクール（2013年）で入賞するなど、世界各地で演奏し成功を収めている。2014年よりウィーン国立歌劇場管弦楽団に入団。2017年よりウィーン・ フィルハーモニー管弦楽団の正団員として活躍している。使用楽器は父デヴィッド・モリソン作（2006年）とジュゼッペ・ナドッティ作（1785年）。
●ゲルハルト・マルシュナー（ヴィオラ）
G. ビーダーマンに師事し、6歳よりヴァイオリンを始める。1992～1994年にI. ステムベルガー、1994～1995年にJ. ポラスチェックに師事した。その後、グラーツ音楽大学で、ウィーン・フィルの団員を数多く育てたアルフレッド・シュタールとその助手であるフーベルト. クロイザマーに永く師事するが、A. シュタールの急死によりヴィオラに転向。首席ヴィオリストのヨーゼフ・シュタール、およびウィーン国立音楽大学でハンス・ペーター・オクセンホファーに師事する。
若い頃より才能を発揮し、1997年と2000年にはプリマ・ラ・ムジカで優勝。2002年にはトレンタ国際音楽フォーラムのファイナルコンサートとして楽友協会のブラームスザールで独奏した。また2004/05年のシーズンにはコーブルク四重奏団としてウィーンのコーブルク宮殿で演奏。2006年にはR. バッケンとCDをリリースし、グスタフ・マーラー作曲コンクールの入賞作品の独奏者としても参加した。
2004年よりウィーン国立歌劇場管弦楽団に入団。2007年よりウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団の正団員およびヴィオラ・パートのリーダーとして活躍、2017年から首席奏者を務めている。
●ベルンハルト・直樹・ヘーデンボルク（チェロ）
5歳よりチェロを始める。12歳でモーツァルテウム管弦楽団との共演でソロ・デビュー。13歳からモーツァルテウム国立音楽大学のハインリッヒ・シフの下で研鑽を積む。「若い音楽家のための国際チェロ・コンクール」（1993年、イタリア）優勝、「第2回若い音楽家のためのチャイコフスキー国際コンクール」（1995年、仙台）銀メダル等。2003年バイエルン放送室内管弦楽団とのハイドンのチェロ協奏曲でウィーン楽友協会大ホールにデビュー。2007年にはアイゼナハ歌劇場（ドイツ）のソリスト・イン・レジデンスを務め、音楽総監督の阪哲朗とともに演奏を行った。ウィーン・トーンキュンスラー管弦楽団首席チェロ奏者を経て、2011年にウィーン国立歌劇場管弦楽団に入団、2014年よりウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団の正団員となる一方で、室内楽の演奏活動にも積極的である。2004年から参加しているピアノ四重奏団アンサンブル・ラロとしての活動も続けており4枚のCDをリリースしている。2012年には、「ニコライ弦楽四重奏団」、さらに兄弟3人によるピアノ三重奏団「ヘーデンボルク・トリオ」を結成した。2006年より神戸国際芸術祭の音楽顧問を務め、ソリストとしても国内外の数々のオーケストラと共演している。1979年生まれ。

The members of the Vienna based string quartet have been playing together for years, until the “Nicolai Quartet” was finally founded. A classical string quartet, the supreme disciplin of chamber music.
They mainly focus on the First Viennese School and early Viennese Romantic period without neglecting other quartet music. Each individual’s experience as soloists, chamber musicians as well as orchestra musicians of no less than the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra has enormously enriched the very intense work.
Having performed in festivals and music centers throughout Europe and Asia, the ensemble has established itself as a highly recognized rising string quartet. Their appearence in the Vienna Philharmonic Chamber Music Series in the Vienna State Opera as well as their tour through China, including the National Center for the Performind Arts Beijing and the Oriental Art Center Shanghai, were highly celebrated.
In 2018 the long awaited Debut CD with Beethoven’s op. 59/1-3, known as the “Rasumowsky - Quartets” will be released at Camerata Tokyo and a concert tour through Japan will follow.
Wilfried Kazuki Hedenborg, violin
Born in 1977 in Salzburg, Austria, Wilfried Hedenborg began studying the violin at the age of six with his father. In 1989 he entered the Mozarteum Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Salzburg as a student of Prof. Ruggiero Ricci. In 1996 he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree, finishing his studies at the Mozarteum in 1998, graduating with a Masters of Arts Degree, both postgraduate studies at the Conservatorium Vienna with Prof. Werner Hink and graduated in 2002 with distinction. In 1997 he founded “The Vienna Quartett”, which he lead until 2001. Over the years he has also developed the “INFELD VIOLIN”strings with Thomastik-Infeld. Developments of “Vision” and “PI” strings followed. Since 2001 Wilfried plays in the 1st violin section of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic. He has become a member of the Vienna Philharmonic in 2004, and served as a board member, as librarian, from 2004 to 2010. Since September 2006 he also became a member of Wiener Hofmusikkapelle. In 2012, after playing together for years, the “Nicolai Quartet” was founded and in the same year the intense work with his two brothers lead also to founding the “Hedenborg Trio”.
Over the years, he has attended numerous masterclasses held by Ruggiero Ricci, Thomas Brandis and Herman Krebbers.
Between 1993 and 1997 he was a prizewinner at a number of international violin competitions: First prizes in the “Jugend musiziert” competition with a special prize awarded by the Vienna Philharmonic, the “Alpe-Adria” competition, the “Concours R. Ricci” and the “T. Wronski Solo Violin Competition”; other prizes include 2nd prize at “Concertino Praga”, 4th prize at the “P. de Sarasate” competition.
Wilfried Hedenborg has given many concert performances, both at home and abroad, which included solo recitals, chamber music and orchestral music, amongst others with: The Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe, Moravian Philharmonie, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonie der Nationen, Sinfonietta Baden and the Wieniawski Philharmonie Lublin under H. Graf, K. Ono, P. Vronsky, M. Caldi, J. Frantz, T. Roessner, N. Carthy and P. Kantschieder. Since 1997 he has also collaborated in projects with the Vienna State Opera Ballet and the appearances in the Vienna Philharmonic Chamber Music Series in the Vienna State Opera were highly celebrated.
The art of violin- and bow-making has always been a fascinating world, as Ruggiero Ricci has introduced him to it throughout his studies. He now plays modern violins made by M. Schwalb (Vienna) and D. Bagué (Barcelona) as well as bows by T. M. Gerbeth (Vienna).
Benjamin Morrison, violin
Since winning the New Zealand National Concerto Competition in 2004 with the Sibelius concerto, Benjamin Morrison’s career has developed steadily. He studied with Professor Stephen Larsen from the age of 7, culminating in the National Concerto Competition success at age 17. In 2006 he moved to Wellington to continue his Tertiary studies with the New Zealand Symphony’s Concertmaster, Vesa Matti-Leppänen and in the same year won the New Zealand School of Music’s Concerto Competition. In the winter of 2006, he was the concertmaster for the New Zealand National Youth Orchestra, a position he held for two more years (2008, 2009). In 2014 he has joined the Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and in 2017 he became a member of the Vienna Philharmonic.
In 2007, Benjamin won first prize in both recital and concerto categories of the Rotarua National Music Competitions. In September of the same year, he moved to Graz, Austria to study with Professor Yair Kless at the Music University of Graz. In Austria he has built a career as a soloist and chamber musician, as well as leading many chamber and orchestral ensembles. He has been a prize winner in Austrian National Competitions such as “Martha Debelli” and “Gradus ad Parnassum” as well as being a prize winner in international competitions such as the “Michael Hill International Violin Competition” (2011) and the “International Brahms Competition” (2013). In 2010 he was awarded a prize from the city of Graz for outstanding achievement in arts. In the same year he was a prize winner at the International Summer Academy in Salzburg. His piano Trio, the Morrison Piano Trio, has enjoyed much success in competitions and has performed in various venues around the world.
Benjamin’s most recent engagement had him perform Shostakovich Violin Concerto No. 1 with the Color Philharmonic in Tokyo, Japan. In December 2016 he has performed at the Lincoln Center in New York as a member of the “Nicolai Quartet”. He has two instruments as his main performing instruments, one made by his father, David Morrison in 2006 and a Giuseppe Nadotti made in 1785.
Gerhard Marschner, viola
After beginning his violin studies at age 6 with Grete Biedermann he was accepted into the class of Alfred Staar. Swapping the violin for the viola, Gerhard continued his studies with Hans Peter Ochsenhofer at Vienna’s University of Music. At age of 19 he won the audition for the Vienna State Opera Orchestra. In 2007, Gerhard became a member of the Vienna Philharmonic, where he soon advanced to the leader of the viola section. He has won several first prizes and has been involved in solo and chamber music activities, e.g. the Finalists’ Concert of the Gustav Mahler Competition for Composition and a series of chamber music concerts in Vienna’s Palais Coburg as well as being a founding member of the “Nicolai Quartet”.
Bernhard Naoki Hedenborg, violoncello
Born in 1979 in Salzburg, Bernhard Naoki started playing cello at the age of six. At the age of 13 Heinrich Schiff invited Bernhard to study with him, over a period of eight years. In addition, he has worked with David Geringas, Zara Nelsova and Miklós Perényi. An avid chamber music performer, he has been encouraged by musicians including György Kurtág, Ferenc Rados, György Sebök, the Alban Berg Quartet and Amadeus Quartet.
He is a prizewinner of many national and international competitions, including a Silver Medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians and the winner of the European Music Prize of Young Musicians in Oslo.
His solo debut was Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg at the age of 12. Repertoire he has performed includes cello concertos by Shostakovich, Haydn, Dvorák, Schumann, Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, Beethoven’s Triple Concerto and Brahms’ Double Concerto with the Cologne Radio Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Costa Rica Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and the Bombay Chamber Orchestra.
As a member of the Thomas Christian Ensemble, he recorded the chamber music transcriptions of works by Mahler, Bruckner and Debussy. As a member of Ensemble Raro he toured extensively in Europe and Japan and recorded Piano Quartets by Brahms, Dvorák, Dohnányi, Suk and Vasks. In 2012, he founded the “Nicolai Quartet” with his colleagues, and the “Hedenborg Trio” with his two brothers.
He made his debut at the Golden Hall in the Vienna’s Musikverein as soloist with the Radio Bavaria Chamber Orchestra. In the season 2007/08 he was Soloist in Residence at the Theatre Eisenach where he performed eight concerts with the GMD Tetsuro Ban.
Bernhard Naoki is artistic director of the Kobe Music Festival in Japan. He regularly gives master classes in Japan and Europe.
2008-2011 he was Principal Cellist of the Tonkünstler Orchestra.
2011 he joined the Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera.
Since 2014 he is member of the Vienna Philharmonic.
