オーストラリア・シドニー出身、英国国籍。メルボルン大学を卒業後、英国王立音楽大学、ウィーン国立音楽大学で研鑽を積む。ウィーン国立音楽大学の学生時代よりウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団およびウィーン国立歌劇場の契約奏者を長年務めた。
ロンドン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、ベルゲン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、ウィーン交響楽団、ウィーン放送交響楽団、ウィーン室内合奏団、シドニー交響楽団、メルボルン交響楽団、京都市交響楽団、NHK交響楽団など、多くの世界的オーケストラにゲスト首席奏者として招かれ、演奏会、レコーディングを幅広く行う。なかでも、2006年にトーマス・クリスティアン・アンサンブルのメンバーとして録音したCDが、名誉あるドイツ・レコード産業最優秀賞を受賞した。
パシフィック・ミュージック・フェスティバル（PMF）をはじめ、チロル音楽祭、ザルツブルク音楽祭など、音楽祭にも数多く参加し好評を博す。
2005年から兵庫芸術文化センター管弦楽団の初代フルート奏者を務め、その後、2008年からソウル・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団の副首席奏者を4年間務めた。
カメラータ・トウキョウより2017年にファースト・アルバム『タファネル 至高のファンタジスト』、2020年に『エレメンタル フルートで探る精霊たちの世界』がリリースされ、『レコード芸術』誌で特選盤に選出されるなど、高い評価を受けている。

Xavier Luck was born in Sydney and educated at the Sydney Conservatorium High School and the University of Melbourne; he went on to study at the Royal College of Music, London and the University for performing Arts, Vienna with Wolfgang Schulz.
During his 15 years in Vienna, Xavier performed regularly with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic as well as Klangforum Wien. He was also principal flute of the Tiroler Festspiel Orchestra until 2004.
In 2005 Xavier moved to Japan, taking up the position of principal flute in the Hyogo Performing Arts Orchestra in Kobe Japan and from 2007 held the position of associate principal flute with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, South Korea. He currently holds the position of professor of flute at Kobe College in Japan
Xavier has performed as guest principal flute in orchestras such as the Wiener Symphoniker, London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa and the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra. He has performed concertos with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, HPAC Orchestra and the Taipei Symphony Orchestra.
He has had the opportunity to perform at various festivals including the Pacific Music Festival, Wiener Festwochen, Beethoven Festival Bonn, Salzburg festival and the Australian Flute Festival.
As a chamber musician Xavier has performed extensively with groups including the Thomas Christian Ensemble, Wiener Succession Players and Ensemble XX. Jahrhundert Wien, and uses these experiences to form and teach a special chamber music program as professor of flute at Kobe College.
Since settling in Japan, Xavier is continuing his passion of new music for the flute and is performing solo and chamber music recitals throughout Australia, Asia and Europe. |
